Christy Valledor, CPLP 
President

 

Christy Valledor is the Service Director at HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union where she works closely with internal business partners and supports the organizations vision of a service driven culture. Her focus is to continually enhance the service strategy in alignment with the changing needs of the business and the changing needs of the membership. She previously served as the eLearning Manager. Prior to joining HawaiiUSA, Christy worked for the Sullivan Family of Companies as a Corporate Trainer and for Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas as the VIP Services Supervisor. Christy is a designated CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) and sHRBP (Strategic Human Resources Business Partner).





 

 


Leslie Gibo 

Past President 

 

Leslie Gibo is the Talent Management Organizational Development Consultant at the Hawaiian Electric Company. Prior to joining Hawaiian Electric Company, she worked as the Organizational Development and Training Manager for Hawaiian Telcom. Prior to joining Hawaiian Telcom, Leslie was the Vice President of Operations for a Technology company, and previously spent 24 years in the Real Estate industry managing operations, sales, training, recruiting, and marketing. Leslie previously served as the President for ATD Hawaii in 2015 Vice President of Professional Development and Events for ATD Hawaii in 2014. 


 

 


 

 

 Ai Tanaka

VP of Records

 

Originally from Japan, Ai Tanaka is Senior Consultant, Continuous Improvement at HMSA/Blue Cross Blue Shield of Hawai’i.  She is responsible for providing strategic and transformational leadership to cross-functional teams for a variety of continuous improvement efforts in the company.  Prior, she worked for an operations management consulting firm in Connecticut for 15 years, initially starting out in Training & Organization Development roles, then later consulting for manufacturing clients across the U.S., Mexico and Russia to help improve safety, quality and productivity utilizing the Toyota Production System.  Her passion is not only to build process excellence and efficient systems, but also to foster employee engagement and people development in the process of change.

    


 


 


 Lou Darnell

 VP of Finance

 

Louis (Lou) Darnell is a lifelong learner and finds satisfaction by mentoring, coaching and leading.  As a Vistage Executive Peer Advisory Group Chair, his mission is to support CEOs in achieving increased effectiveness and enhancing their quality of life.  Lou also Chairs ComTel’s Board of Directors.  ComTel is a communications technology company he founded 23 years ago.  Prior to starting his business career, Lou served in the US Army for 26 years.  During his military career, Lou earned a graduate degree in Organizational Development, served as an organizational effectiveness consultant and introduced process reengineering at the Headquarters of the Pacific Command.  As a student at the Army’s senior service college, Lou studied national policy and strategy formulation.  While at the Pentagon, Lou was responsible to ensure the integration of strategy, programs and budgeting.  A highlight of his career was command of a 1,000 strong organization facing the Iron Curtain. 

 

 


 

 

 

 Debbie Powell

 VP of Membership  

 

Debbie began her journey into the organizational development field nearly 20 years ago. “My passion is leadership development and my industry expertise is in health care.” She is a Training Manager at The Queen's Health Systems responsible for supporting the learning and development needs for a team of 5,000. She has a special interest in Equine Guided Education, using horses in leadership and team development work.

 



 

  

Tanya Lee

 VP of Marketing   

 

Tanya Lee is the resident Training Geek at Y. Hata & Co., Limited, Hawaii’s number one food distributor.  She is a former Board President of the Financial Education Alliance of Hawaii, a recipient of the CUNA HR/TD Excellence Award and holds several training certifications.  Tanya is an advocate for BIG, BOLD and crAzY learning programs.  She is also the Queen of her Castle, mother of two, and an aspiring romance novelist.  Learn more about Tanya Lee at www.linkedin.com/in/tanyaklee.

  

 

 

 

 

 

 Tani-Kaye K. Sorensen, SPHR

 VP Professional Development & Events   

 

Tani-Kaye Sorensen has over eight years of progressive experience in various HR roles including; executive assistant, recruitment, employee relations, HR Business Partner,  and absence and disability management.  She also has over two years of experience in operations management.   Tani-Kaye has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Utah Valley University and a master’s degree in Travel Industry Management from UH Manoa. To further enhance her knowledge and expertise in organizational development, leadership and talent development, she is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Organization Development (MSOD) program at Pepperdine University, graduating in 2016.

 

 

 

 

Andrew Muccio 

VP of Technology

 

Andrew Muccio is an Instructional Design Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. He has worked on instructional design projects for NASA, the Department of Justice, and the Office of Personnel Management. He currently is tasked with developing curricula for the United States Army at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Andrew is very interested in integrating technology to produce meaningful learning solutions.
